The Parque de Bombas in Ponce is a historic wooden firehouse building that sits in Plaza Las Delicias in the city center. It was built in 1882 and served as the city’s main fire station before later becoming a museum and municipal landmark.
The building is notable for its distinctive red-and-black painted facade and wooden vernacular architecture. Today it houses exhibits on the city’s firefighting history and is one of Ponce’s most photographed structures.
Constructed originally as a pavilion for civic use and adapted to serve as a fire station, it later transitioned to museum use under municipal stewardship. Its role has shifted from active municipal service to cultural heritage and tourism.
It stands in Ponce’s central plaza next to other civic buildings and the cathedral, in the southern coastal region of Puerto Rico.
