How to Get to Paranaguá
Paranaguá is accessed mainly by road from Curitiba's Afonso Pena Airport and by intercity buses from regional hubs. The port town has limited direct air service, so most travelers arrive by bus or car.
Curitiba-Afonso Pena (CWB): The main airport serving Paranaguá and the wider Paraná coast (about 90-100 km by road). From Afonso Pena you can reach Paranaguá by taking a taxi/shuttle to Curitiba’s main bus terminal (Rodoviária), then an intercity bus to Paranaguá (airport→terminal taxi ~R$35-60, 30-40 minutes; terminal→Paranaguá bus ~R$20-35, 1.5-2 hours).
Other nearby airports: There are no large commercial airports in Paranaguá itself; some visitors use Florianópolis (FLN) or São Paulo airports for multi‑leg trips, but these require much longer road transfers (several hours by bus/car).
Train: Paranaguá has historically important rail freight lines (serving the port); regular passenger rail is not a practical arrival option from major cities-use buses instead.
Bus: The most reliable way to get to Paranaguá is by intercity bus from Curitiba (Terminal Rodoviário). Multiple daily services run the 90-120 km coastal route; journey time is ~1.5-2 hours and fares are generally in the R$20-35 range. Local buses and taxis serve the city and port area once you arrive.
