Pannonhalma Archabbey is a Benedictine monastery in northwestern Hungary founded in 996 AD and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It remains an active religious community and a major historical and cultural centre in the region.

The abbey was established in 996 under royal patronage and developed across the Middle Ages into a major religious and cultural institution; it underwent architectural additions and restorations in Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque periods. It has preserved a continuous Benedictine presence and accumulated a significant library and archival collection over the centuries.

Perched on a hill near the town of Pannonhalma in Győr-Moson-Sopron County, the archabbey overlooks agricultural plains roughly 100 kilometres west of Budapest and is reachable by regional road connections.

Pannonhalma Archabbey is in the village of Pannonhalma in north‑west Hungary. It is commonly reached by car from Győr (around a 20-30 minute drive) or from Budapest via the M1 motorway and local county roads; there is visitor parking at the abbey and a short walk up to the monastic complex. Regular regional buses connect Győr and other nearby towns with Pannonhalma village.
