Pan de Azúcar National Park

Pan de Azúcar National Park is a coastal protected area in Chile’s Atacama Region that conserves a stretch of Pacific shoreline, arid hills, and offshore islets. The park protects desert-adapted vegetation and coastal wildlife typical of the north-central Chilean coast.

Key visitor attractions include rocky coastal scenery, hiking routes on coastal hills, and wildlife observation opportunities for species such as guanaco and numerous seabirds on offshore rocks. Some offshore islets within or adjacent to the park host breeding seabird colonies.

The park was created to protect the distinctive coastal desert ecosystems where marine influence, fog and aridity combine to support specialized plant and animal communities. It is managed for both conservation and public visitation with marked trails and viewpoint areas.

Pan de Azúcar National Park lies on the Pacific coast within the Atacama administrative region of northern Chile and is accessed from nearby coastal towns and roads that run along the shoreline.
