How to Get to Pambak range #
The easiest access is from Vanadzor (about 10-30 km depending on the ridge segment). From Yerevan, take the M6 north to Vanadzor (roughly 120 km, 2-2.5 hours by car). Local minibuses (marshrutka) leave Vanadzor’s central station toward smaller villages along the Pambak slopes. For hiking, park at village trailheads such as Parakar or Getahovit and follow unpaved tracks.
Tips for Visiting Pambak range #
- Drive the A89 (M-1) approach slowly and stop at the first roadside pullouts - the basalt outcrops and shepherds' huts appear fast.
- If hiking, use the Dilijan-Parakar trailheads; paths are poorly signposted beyond small villages so bring an offline map or GPS.
- Visit in late spring (May-June) for wildflowers and clear views; winter roads to higher cols can be closed.
