Palmer Stadium was the historic football stadium of Princeton University in New Jersey, originally built in 1914 and used for college football and university events through the 20th century. The stadium was notable for its large seating capacity and classic collegiate setting.
At its peak the stadium held tens of thousands of spectators and hosted Princeton football, commencement events and other large gatherings; it was a central athletic venue for the university community. The structure was demolished in 1997 and the site was redeveloped with a new stadium shortly thereafter.
Constructed as Princeton’s principal outdoor athletic facility in the early 20th century, the stadium underwent expansions and upgrades during its life before being replaced to meet modern standards for seating, sightlines and amenities.
The stadium stood on the Princeton University campus in Princeton, New Jersey; the modern Princeton Stadium occupies roughly the same site.
