Palazzo Massimo alle Terme

Palazzo Massimo alle Terme is a major branch of the National Roman Museum in Rome that houses an extensive collection of classical antiquities. The museum occupies a 19th-century palace near Termini station and the Baths of Diocletian.

Large marble sculptures, imperial portraiture and well-preserved frescoes recovered from Roman villas, among them decorative panels associated with the Villa of Livia. The displays cover sculpture, painted decoration, and small finds that document elite Roman art and daily life.

The building was repurposed as a museum to present archaeological material from excavations across Rome and is one of several National Roman Museum sites grouped around the city centre.
