Palazzina Cinese

The Palazzina Cinese in Palermo is a small royal residence built in a Chinoiserie style within the Royal Park of La Favorita; it served as a leisure lodge for the Bourbon court. The building is an example of European interpretation of East Asian decorative motifs applied to a royal villa.

Visitors encounter richly decorated reception rooms, period furnishings and decorative ceramics that reflect the chinoiserie taste of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The palace is compact and presented as a historic house museum with guided access to principal rooms.

The Palazzina Cinese was commissioned by members of the Bourbon royal family in the late 18th century as a court residence and hunting lodge, and later preserved as a historic monument. Over time it has been restored and adapted for museum presentation.

The palace sits within Palermo’s La Favorita park to the west of the historic centre, close to the city’s coastal promenade and within the urban area of Palermo.
