Koror & Airai (Main Hub)
February mornings are slightly cooler and the sea is calm, which makes island-hopping easy from the Koror marina to nearby Peleliu or the Rock Islands. The town hums with local life and fewer tourists than holiday season peaks, so restaurants have better availability; still, book popular dive trips in advance. Expect sticky afternoons and brief downpours now and then-pack light, quick-dry clothing and insect repellent for dusk.
Babeldaob (Interior & North)
Dawn light in February accentuates the island’s rolling hills and river valleys; temperatures are comfortable and humidity is lower than later in the year. Cultural sites such as the Bai ceremonial grounds are easier to reach without slippery access roads, and the afternoons usually clear enough for photo walks. Expect local markets to be lively-pack cash and a hat for sunny midday spells.
Rock Islands & Southern Lagoon (Diving, Kayaking & Snorkeling)
February continues to favor calm seas and the protected bays inside the lagoon offer some of the clearest snorkeling of the year; the Rock Islands trails and short hikes are less muddy and comfortable to explore. Dayboats are busy but not overcrowded outside holiday weekends, and underwater visibility on many sites allows clear viewing of coral bommies. A snorkel mask with a good seal and a light windbreaker for early mornings are useful.
Peleliu & Angaur (Southern Historic Islands)
February brings similarly mild conditions and good inter-island boat service, ideal for diving wrecks and visiting Peleliu’s memorials before the warmer months set in. The beaches are pleasant for shore snorkeling when water clarity is good, and smaller guesthouses are easier to book than up in Koror. Pack light layers for cooler mornings and a hat for extended outdoor exploration of the island sites.
Northern Atolls & Outer Cays (Kayangel, Ngarchelong)
February gives consistently calm mornings and the exposed cays show their bright white sand and clear waters at their best; small-boat operators run reliable charters from Koror if seas permit. The remoteness of places like Kayangel means fewer amenities-plan provisions and a charged power bank for longer days. Photographers will enjoy the clean horizons and little haze during sunrise and mid-morning.
