The Palace on the Isle (Pałac na Wyspie) is a neoclassical palace set on an artificial island in Łazienki Park in Warsaw, originally a 17th-century bathing pavilion remodelled in the late 18th century. It served as a summer residence and royal salon for Poland’s last king, Stanisław II Augustus, and is a central attraction within the park.

Visitors encounter restored royal apartments, period interiors and decorative schemes that reflect late 18th-century tastes and court life. The palace is closely integrated with the surrounding landscaped gardens, ponds and public pathways of Łazienki Park.

The present appearance dates mainly from the late 1700s when the palace was converted and enlarged under royal patronage; it suffered damage during World War II and was subsequently restored in the postwar period. The building is now part of Poland’s national museum network.

Situated in the heart of Warsaw’s Łazienki Park, the palace occupies an island on a park lake and is surrounded by lawns, tree-lined promenades and other historic park buildings.

• Isle and gardens: The small artificial island and surrounding formal gardens within Łazienki Park, forming the palace’s landscaped setting and principal public access route.

Łazienki Park is centrally located in Warsaw. From the city centre (Nowy Świat/Piłsudskiego), it is about a 20-30 minute walk or a short tram/bus ride (lines 10, 18, 35 to Agrykola or Łazienki). The Palace on the Isle is accessed via the park’s main promenades; follow signs from the main entrance gates.

• Enter from the southern garden to see the palace reflected in the rectilinear pools - that reflection is a photographer's secret.
• The palace interior houses period rooms; join the short guided tour for the 18th-century stories and details not visible from the labels.
• Combine with a canal-side walk to Łazienki Park (about 2.5 km) to avoid the most tourist-clogged routes.
