The Palace of Blachernae was a Byzantine imperial palace complex located in the Blachernae quarter of Constantinople (modern Istanbul), situated near the city walls in the northwestern part of the historic city. From the 11th century it served as an important imperial residence and administrative centre.
The complex included state apartments, ceremonial halls and chapels and was expanded and modified by successive emperors. After the fall of Constantinople in 1453 the palace fell into disuse and many of its structures survived only as ruins or were absorbed into later urban fabric.
The site lies within the historic peninsula of Istanbul, adjacent to the Theodosian Walls and the Golden Horn, in the area historically known as Blachernae.
