Oujé-Bougoumou

Oujé-Bougoumou is a Cree community in northern Quebec established in the 1990s as a planned settlement for members of the local Cree band. The village was developed with a focus on modern community infrastructure and cultural facilities.

The village core includes a Cree cultural centre and public buildings noted for contemporary Indigenous architecture, with design input from architect Douglas Cardinal. The community operates as part of the Eeyou Istchee (Cree) territory in central-northern Quebec and serves as a local administrative and cultural centre for its residents.

Oujé-Bougoumou is located in the James Bay/Northern Quebec region north of the region’s main service towns and is reached by regional roads and air links used across northern Quebec.
