Ottobeuren Abbey

Ottobeuren Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in the town of Ottobeuren in Bavaria, southern Germany, with origins in the early medieval period and a major Baroque-Rococo rebuild in the 18th century.

The complex is dominated by the abbey church with twin towers and richly decorated interiors. Visitors come for the church architecture, the monastic library and regular organ and choral concerts held in the basilica.

The abbey was founded in the early medieval period and developed over centuries into a major Benedictine house; most of the surviving architectural ensemble dates from large-scale rebuilding in the 18th century.
