Orlík Castle

Orlík Castle is a historic hilltop chateau in South Bohemia, Czech Republic, built on a cliff above the Vltava River and what is now the Orlík Reservoir. The castle originates in the medieval period and is notable for its riverside setting and château interiors.

Visitors tour preserved state rooms, period furnishings, and representative historic interiors; the surrounding parkland and terraces step down toward the river. The site is compact enough for a half-day visit combining interior tours and a walk through the castle grounds.

A fortress originally stood on the site in the medieval period and the complex was rebuilt and remodeled over centuries, acquiring much of its present appearance during extensive 18th- and 19th-century renovations. Ownership passed through noble families that shaped the interior decoration and park.

The castle sits above the Vltava River in the South Bohemian Region, overlooking the Orlík Reservoir created on the river. It is located in a rural section of southern Bohemia among rolling forested hills and waterways.
