Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is a coastal dune system on Oregon’s central coast within the Siuslaw National Forest, notable for extensive temperate coastal sand dunes and recreational access. The designated recreation area encompasses roughly 31,500 acres and stretches along about 40 miles of shoreline.

The dunes offer a wide range of recreation including hiking, sandboarding and motorized recreation in designated areas; some dunes rise to heights that reach on the order of hundreds of feet. Trailheads and beach access points along Highway 101 provide entry for day use and longer outings.

The dune landscape formed over thousands of years by the interaction of wind, waves and coastal sediments; federal management and the recreation area designation focus on balancing public access with resource protection. The location has long attracted visitors for both its natural scale and its recreational opportunities.
