Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve

Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve protects a marble cave system and surrounding forest in the Siskiyou Mountains of southwestern Oregon. The site combines subterranean cave features with an aboveground landscape of mixed conifer forest and granite outcrops.

The main attraction is the marble cave itself, reached on guided tours that follow switchbacks and stairways past flowstone, stalactites and other speleothems. Aboveground, short trails lead to viewpoints, and a historic park lodge provides visitor information and interpretation.

The caves were formed by groundwater dissolving marble over long periods; the monument preserves the cave passages and the surface watershed that feeds them. The rustic lodge and park facilities were developed during early 20th-century efforts to make the area accessible to visitors.

The monument lies in the Siskiyou Mountains near the small town of Cave Junction in southwestern Oregon, managed by the National Park Service and reached by mountain roads from nearby regional communities.
