Ordu-Baliq is the archaeological site of the medieval capital of the Uyghur Khaganate, located in present-day Mongolia and dating to the 8th and 9th centuries CE.
The site features extensive earthwork remains of city walls, street layouts and building platforms; it is visited mainly by archaeologists and travelers interested in Turkic steppe empires and medieval urbanism. There are no large modern visitor facilities on site.
Ordu-Baliq was established as the capital of the Uyghur Khaganate in the 8th century and served as the political and administrative center of the Uyghur state until its destruction in the mid-9th century. Historical sources and archaeological work document its role in regional trade and governance during that period.
The ruins lie in central Mongolia within Arkhangai Province, set in a continental steppe landscape away from large modern cities.
