How to Get to Oprtalj#
Oprtalj is an inland Istrian hill town best accessed by car from Pula or by regional bus via Pazin/Buzet. There is no direct train service-buses and driving are the typical ways to arrive and move around.
Pula Airport (PUY): Pula is the nearest airport for Oprtalj and many Istrian hill towns; the driving time is generally under an hour and a half depending on route. From Pula you can rent a car or take regional buses toward Pazin and then local connections.
Trieste - Friuli Venezia Giulia (TRS) / Rijeka (RJK): Trieste (Italy) and Rijeka can be alternatives depending on flight options; both require longer onward travel by road or regional bus into inland Istria and over the border where relevant.
Train: There is no direct rail access to Oprtalj; the nearest useful railheads are in larger Istrian towns or in neighbouring Slovenia/Italy-train is not typically the final-leg option.
Bus: Regional buses link Pula, Pazin and Buzet with stops nearer Oprtalj; Pazin and Buzet are common hubs for onward connections. Buses are the standard public option for accessing Oprtalj from larger Istrian towns.
