Onondaga Lake

Onondaga Lake is a freshwater lake in Onondaga County, New York State, located immediately northwest of Syracuse. The lake has been prominent in regional industry, recreation and environmental restoration efforts.

The lake’s shoreline and waters were heavily impacted by industrial and municipal discharges during the 19th and 20th centuries, leading to widespread contamination.
