The Olympiastadion in Munich is the principal outdoor stadium of the Olympiapark complex, constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics. It was built between 1968 and 1972 and is noted for its pioneering tensile roof structure.

The stadium has a seating capacity of around 69,000 and hosts football matches, athletics events and large concerts. The surrounding Olympiapark includes indoor arenas, a tower, landscaped lake and event spaces across several hectares. The roof is a distinctive lightweight tensile canopy designed to cover large spans while remaining visually transparent.

Designed by the team led by architect Günter Behnisch with structural engineer Frei Otto, the complex was completed for the 1972 Games and has been adapted for domestic sport and public events since. The site has undergone multiple renovations since its opening to modernize facilities and maintain the structure.

Situated in the northern part of Munich within the Olympiapark, the stadium lies in the Milbertshofen-Am Hart district about a short drive north of the city centre and is well served by public transport and park pathways.
