Okatse Canyon Natural Monument

Okatse Canyon Natural Monument is a protected canyon of the Okatse River in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, western Georgia. It is designated as a natural monument to conserve the gorge and its immediate surroundings.

The site is known for a purpose-built visitor trail that runs along the canyon rim and includes cantilevered viewing platforms that look into the gorge and over the river. The trail and viewpoints allow people to see steep limestone cliffs and a narrow valley without technical climbing.

The canyon was shaped by fluvial erosion of limestone over geological time; the area later received protected status to preserve its landforms and local habitats. Management focuses on maintaining visitor infrastructure and conserving the canyon environment.

The monument lies in western Georgia, inland from the Black Sea coast, within Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. The nearest larger towns and road links are in the region of Martvili and Zugdidi.
