Ohio State Reformatory

The Ohio State Reformatory is a late 19th/early 20th century prison complex in Mansfield, Ohio, noted for its Richardsonian Romanesque architecture and large cell blocks. It was decommissioned as a prison in 1990 and is now preserved as a historic site offering public tours.

Built as a state reformatory in the late 1800s and completed in the early 20th century, it operated as a prison until closure in 1990; subsequent decades have seen restoration and public opening managed by a nonprofit trust. The complex has been the subject of preservation campaigns and adaptive reuse as a historic site.
