Ocean City Travel Guide

A favorite destination spot for the Mid-Atlantic area, Ocean City is a seaside resort town in Worcester County, Maryland. Sometimes known as OC (not to be mistaken with Orange County in California), the town offers great fishing and beach life. Ocean City is a favorite Spring Break destination for students from Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania, but visitors can flock to Ocean City all year around.

Known as the East Coast’s number one family resort, Ocean City has spent millions re-building and re-furbishing its beachfront area. The famous Maryland Boardwalk, which is three miles long, now buzzes with young and old alike, with hot dog vendors, amusement parks, hotels and restaurants. The white sandy beach stretches for 10 miles and offers a whole range of water activities. Also known as the ‘White Marlin Capital of the World‘, some of the best Atlantic fishing can be had in Ocean City.

However, Ocean City is not all about beach and non-beach lovers can enjoy the local heritage of the Lower Shore, with its historic buildings and museums. There is plenty to explore, with many of the Victorian homes open to the public. For nature lovers, there is Assateague Island, which used to be connected to Ocean City, but was separated by a natural inlet that formed during a hurricane. Assateague Island is famous for its marshlands and wild ponies.
