Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an art museum in central Copenhagen founded by brewer Carl Jacobsen to house his private collection of antiquities and modern art. The museum is especially known for its combined holdings of ancient Mediterranean sculpture and 19th-century European and Danish painting and sculpture.

The collection was formed by Carl Jacobsen in the late 19th century and the museum buildings were commissioned to display these purchases and donations to the city. Over the 20th century the Glyptotek expanded its holdings and buildings to accommodate both antiquities and modern art.
