Nuremberg Castle sits above the old town of Nürnberg. From Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof it’s about a 1.5-2.0 km walk (roughly 20-30 minutes) uphill into the Altstadt; taxis and short local bus/tram rides also serve the old town if you prefer. By car Nürnberg is well connected to the German autobahn network (for example, Munich is about 170 km to the south via the A9, roughly a 1.5-2 hour drive).

• Arrive at opening to explore the castle grounds and climb the Sinwell Tower for panoramic views over Nuremberg before large tour groups and midday visitors arrive.
• Enter via Burggraben/Burgstrasse to reach the main courtyards and the Imperial Castle Museum efficiently; the museum and ramparts are on site and worth allocating time separately from the town below.
