Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park is a protected area in the northern Republic of the Congo within the Sangha region, notable for large tracts of intact Congo Basin rainforest. It is recognised for its importance to large mammals and great apes and is part of a transboundary conservation landscape.

The park contains extensive primary forest with populations of forest elephant, western lowland gorilla and chimpanzee and supports ongoing scientific research and anti-poaching programmes. Access is limited and primarily by river or small aircraft to research and ranger stations rather than by regular tourist infrastructure.

The park was established by the Republic of the Congo to conserve a core area of rainforest and is managed with support from conservation organisations and research institutions. It is included within the larger Sangha Trinational conservation area that spans borders with neighbouring Central African countries.

Located in the Sangha Department of northern Republic of the Congo, the park forms part of a cross-border forest block near protected areas in neighbouring countries and is reached by river and regional air links.

  • Conservation status: Part of an internationally recognised conservation landscape shared with neighbouring countries, offering some of the most intact lowland rainforest in Central Africa.
