Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (commonly abbreviated NDG) is a residential neighbourhood on the Island of Montreal in the province of Quebec, and it is part of the borough Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The area is a primarily residential and commercial district with long-established neighbourhood amenities.

Street-level commercial corridors such as Monkland Avenue and Sherbrooke Street West provide cafes, shops and services; small parks and community centres are dispersed through the area. The neighbourhood offers a mix of housing types, local restaurants and accessible public transit links into central Montreal.

Development intensified as Montreal expanded in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, leading to the neighbourhood’s growth as a residential suburb with streetcar and later bus connections to downtown. Over time NDG has retained a mix of historic houses and mid-century apartment buildings alongside commercial strips.

Located on the western side of central Montreal on the Island of Montreal, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce lies west of the Mount Royal area and approximately several kilometres from Downtown Montreal, within the borough Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
