Nora, Italy

Nora is an archaeological site on the southern coast of Sardinia, Italy, representing a multi-period Phoenician-Punic and Roman settlement with coastal ruins and public buildings. It is one of the most important ancient sites on the island.

The site contains visible remains of a seaside Roman theatre, thermal baths and domestic quarters including mosaic floors and paved streets. The layered occupation produces a compact set of ruins on a coastal promontory, with interpretive signage at key points.

Originally founded in the first millennium BCE as a Phoenician and later Punic settlement, the town developed under Roman rule into an important local centre with public buildings and port facilities. Excavations over the 19th and 20th centuries have revealed streets, mosaics and structural remains from multiple phases.

Located near the modern town of Pula on Sardinia’s southern coast, the ruins sit directly on a coastal promontory with sea views. The site is accessible by local roads from Cagliari and surrounding towns.
