How to Get to Nki National Park #
Access is by arranged overland transfer from the regional centers of Bertoua or Yokadouma. Roads are often rough and travel times long; most visits require fly-in to regional airstrips followed by park-arranged transport. All visits should be coordinated through Cameroon’s MINFOF or established conservation NGOs.
Tips for Visiting Nki National Park #
- Arrange permits and a guide through the Cameroon Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) or established conservation NGOs-independent access is generally not possible.
- Be prepared for heavy rain and muddy trails during the wet season; plan for mosquitos and bring malaria prophylaxis as recommended.
- Bring binoculars and a camera with a long lens-Nki is one of the best places on the continent to locate forest elephants and lowland gorillas, often seen at dawn and dusk.

The dry months offer the most reliable access and highest odds of spotting large mammals; the rainy season makes trails very difficult and some areas impassable.
