Nickerson Field is a multiuse stadium on Boston University’s campus located on the site of the former Braves Field. It serves as the university’s outdoor sports venue.
The site was originally home to Braves Field, a Major League Baseball ballpark from the early 20th century; after the team left, the property was incorporated into Boston University’s campus and redeveloped as a university athletic field.
The stadium is on Boston University’s campus in the Allston/Brighton area of Boston, within walking distance of the Charles River and BU academic buildings.

How to Get to Nickerson Field #
Nickerson Field sits on Boston University’s Allston campus along Babcock Street. Take the MBTA Green Line B branch to the Babcock Street stop (or Kenmore station on the Green Line if you prefer) and walk a few minutes west to the field; several local MBTA buses serve Allston/ Brighton along Commonwealth Avenue. By car it’s roughly 3 miles west of downtown Boston - drive via Storrow Drive/MA‑28 or Commonwealth Avenue (allow extra time for campus traffic and limited parking).
Tips for Visiting Nickerson Field #
- Check Boston University's athletics and events calendar before you go-Nickerson Field hosts college games and special events that close the grounds to the public, so visiting on a weekday morning outside event dates will be much quieter.
- Arrive via Kenmore (MBTA Green Line) or on-foot from the BU campus along Commonwealth Avenue to avoid searching for parking; the field is very walkable from Kenmore Square and campus pathways.
- If you're attending a game or concert, arrive well before kickoff to deal with ticket lines and event-specific street closures and parking restrictions.
