How to Get to New Providence #
New Providence (island) is served by Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) near Nassau. Most visitors fly into NAS and then drive or take a taxi to Nassau city centre and other parts of the island; the airport is about 15 km from downtown Nassau (roughly 20-30 minutes by car depending on traffic).
Within New Providence the main roads (including Bay Street in Nassau) connect the island’s settlements; local buses and taxis provide frequent short transfers around Nassau and to coastal beaches.

- If you want quieter beaches and local life, head east or west of downtown Nassau rather than the cruise-ship waterfront: areas like Cable Beach and the western/northern shoreline receive fewer day-visit crowds.
- Plan visits to Nassau's central sights (Straw Market, downtown) outside typical cruise-ship arrival times-early morning or late afternoon-to avoid overlapping with the large tour groups that dominate mid-day.
- Use Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) for arrivals; from there, taxis or prearranged transfers are the most direct way to reach hotels across New Providence rather than navigating crowded cruise terminals.
