New England National Park is a protected area on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia, characterised by high escarpments, eucalyptus forest and subalpine pockets. The park forms part of the broader New England region’s upland landscapes.

Key attractions include high-elevation lookouts and walking tracks that access escarpments and rainforest gullies. Vegetation ranges from wet forest in sheltered gullies to open woodland and heath on higher ground, and the park supports diverse native flora and fauna.

The park was established to protect significant upland ecosystems and remains managed for conservation, recreation and environmental education. It is visited for bushwalking, birdwatching and scenic viewpoints rather than built attractions.

New England National Park lies on the Northern Tablelands in New South Wales, forming part of the Great Dividing Range’s upland country and accessible from towns in the New England district.

• Point Lookout: Point Lookout is a well-known vantage within the park offering wide views over surrounding tablelands and valleys.

New England National Park is reached by road via Waterfall Way (B78) between Armidale and the Coffs Harbour/Dorrigo area. The usual driving approach is from Armidale (follow B78 east) or from Coffs Harbour/Dorrigo (follow B78 west) and turn off toward the Ebor/New England Park area; there are designated car parks and short walking tracks to lookouts once on site. Public transport is very limited in this area, so a private car or hire vehicle is the most practical option.

• Plan to arrive at Point Lookout and other high vantage points in the park around sunrise or late afternoon - the light is best for the escarpment views and wildlife activity, and these times avoid the bulk of day-trippers.
• Use the park's main established entry points and carparks rather than trying to shortcut on unmarked tracks; check the NSW National Parks website for current track closures or fire alerts before you go.
• Many visitors miss the quieter, shorter walking loops away from the main lookouts; allow time for a 30-90 minute side walk to experience rainforest pockets and less-crowded viewpoints.
