Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision

The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid) is the audiovisual archive and museum located in Hilversum, North Holland, that preserves Dutch radio, television, film, and sound collections. It combines public exhibition space with large archival and conservation facilities.

Exhibition galleries display historical and contemporary media material and interactive exhibits about broadcasting and media history. Behind the scenes are vaults, digitization labs, and research facilities that store and preserve analogue and digital collections.

The institute was formed to centralize and preserve national broadcast collections; a purpose-built facility on the Media Park was completed in the mid-2000s to bring together public and archival functions. Since then it has operated as both a museum and a national archive for Dutch audiovisual heritage.

The complex sits on Hilversum’s Media Park, the Netherlands’ traditional broadcasting district, roughly 30 km southeast of Amsterdam and easily reached from the Amsterdam region.
