Neideck Castle is a medieval castle ruin in the Franconian Switzerland region of Bavaria, Germany. The site consists of remnants of a rock castle sited on a sandstone promontory above the Wiesent valley.

Remains of walls and rock-cut features sit atop a narrow sandstone ridge, with visible ruins that illustrate the layout of a hilltop fortification. The site is popular with walkers and those exploring the network of castles in Franconian Switzerland, offering a short uphill approach and open views over the surrounding valley.

Built in the Middle Ages as a defensive hill castle, the structure fell into ruin over later centuries and now survives as archaeological and architectural remains typical of regional rock castles. The site reflects the medieval pattern of small fortified sites in northern Bavaria.

The ruined castle is located near the villages of Neideck and Streitberg in the Forchheim district of Bavaria, in the wooded and limestone landscape known as Franconian Switzerland. Access is generally by local roads and short hiking tracks from nearby settlements.

  • Valley viewpoint: Perched on a sandstone rock outcrop, the ruins provide a clear viewpoint over the Wiesent valley and are commonly reached on short local footpaths from the nearby village.
