The Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju is a prehistoric burial site on Sardinia’s northwest coast, near Alghero, containing numerous rock-cut chamber tombs. It is one of the island’s significant funerary complexes from the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age.
Constructed and used during the Late Neolithic into the Early Bronze Age, the necropolis was investigated by archaeologists from the 19th and 20th centuries and produced pottery, stone tools and human remains that have informed understanding of Sardinian prehistory.
