The mountain is served by the Nebelhornbahn cable car from Oberstdorf, which takes visitors to high-altitude trails and a summit viewing platform. Trails of varying difficulty run from the upper stations and connect to nearby ridges and alpine huts.

The area has been developed for Alpine recreation across the 20th century and is used year-round for hiking, climbing and organized ski runs. Facilities at the upper stations include viewpoints and marked paths.
