It’s a short walk from major Mall-area points: about a 5-10 minute walk from L’Enfant Plaza Metro (served by Blue, Orange, Silver, Green and Yellow lines) and roughly 10-15 minutes on foot from the Smithsonian Metro station (Blue/Orange lines).
By car the museum is on Independence Avenue SW near the U.S. Capitol; driving distances are short from downtown Washington, but on‑site parking is extremely limited so public transit is recommended.
