Nanjiang Xiagu Travel Guide

Located approximately 33 miles from Guiyang in Kaiyang County, Nanjiang Xiagu is a spectacular canyon with an abundance of natural attractions.

The stunning canyon is more than 25 miles in length and has a maximum depth of over 820 feet. An array of beautiful and impressive attractions fill the canyon including 48 waterfalls, limestone caves and truly breathtaking flora terraces. Nanjiang Xiagu is a wildlife sanctuary with an abundance of birds including White Egrets.

For keen adventures there are challenging white water rafting opportunities with the Guiynag South River rushing through the canyon. Several tour groups offer daytrips along the river, which are truly unforgettable. Also available and less physically demanding are nature hikes, bird watching and riverside walks.

The continental subtropical mild climate of the region provides four distinct seasons with an annual average temperature of around 15°C. The months from April to October offer the most comfortable weather for enjoying the outdoor activities. Getting There & Away

Nanjiang Xiagu is easily reached from the capital city of Guiyang in Guizhou Province. Frequent buses leave from the city making the short journey in approximately an hour. Guiyang is home to an international airport with regular flights to most major cities in the region. Flights from Beijing take around an hour flying time.
