Nam O Beach
Beach Popular urban beach near Da Nang's northern shore
Nam O Beach is a small coastal beach on Vietnam’s central coast near Da Nang, adjacent to a local fishing community.
The shoreline is typically visited for short beach outings, seafood meals and views of the nearby headland rather than for large-scale tourism or extensive resort development.
The beach lies on the eastern coastline close to the Son Tra area of Da Nang and is reachable by road from the city.
- Local fishing village: The immediate area combines a small sandy shoreline with a nearby fishing village and several seafood restaurants, making it a local destination for fresh seafood and short coastal visits.
How to Get to Nam O Beach #
Nam O Beach is on the northern side of Da Nang’s Son Tra area, north of Da Nang city centre. It is reachable by car or motorbike from downtown Da Nang - roughly 8-10 km and about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic - typically via the coastal/major roads toward the Son Tra Peninsula (taxis and motorbike hire are the usual options).
Tips for Visiting Nam O Beach #
- Plan to be at Nam O around sunrise or late afternoon-these times give cooler light for photos and let you see local fishing boats coming and going when activity is highest.
- Head to the small fishing community rather than only the sand: local seafood stalls and the village quay (rather than the main resort strips) are where residents unload catches and where visitors see everyday life.
- Access is typically by the coastal road north of central Da Nang or by motorbike along the Son Tra approach; the spot is generally much less crowded than city beaches, so expect few facilities and bring any needed supplies.
