Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, Uzhhorod

The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Uzhhorod is an open-air ethnographic museum showcasing traditional rural buildings and everyday objects from the Zakarpattia region. The site preserves vernacular wooden architecture and rural interiors.

Collections consist of relocated wooden houses, farm buildings, workshops and small rural churches arranged to recreate village ensembles and illustrate traditional construction and domestic life. Exhibits typically show interior furnishings, tools and seasonal rural practices.

The museum was created to rescue and conserve representative examples of Transcarpathian folk architecture threatened by modernization, assembling buildings from several districts to form a consolidated outdoor exhibit. Conservation and interpretation focus on regional building techniques and material culture.

Located on the outskirts of Uzhhorod in Zakarpattia Oblast, the skansen sits in parkland near the city and is reached by short local transport from the urban center.
