Müritz National Park is a protected area in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northeastern Germany, set in the Mecklenburg Lake District and centered on Lake Müritz. The park was established to protect a mosaic of lakes, mires, beech forest and heathland and covers roughly 322 square kilometers.

Key features include the open waters of Lake Müritz, extensive reedbeds and raised bogs, and contiguous stands of old-growth beech forest. The area is important for breeding and migratory birds and supports species such as white-tailed eagle and cranes.

The park offers hiking trails, cycling routes and boat access on the lake; interpretive centres around Waren (Müritz) provide visitor information. Zoning separates visitor-use areas from strictly protected core zones to conserve sensitive habitats.

Müritz National Park in Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern is best reached from the nearby towns of Waren (Müritz) or Neustrelitz. By car you can drive from Berlin using the A24/A19 motorways toward Waren; regional trains also serve Waren (Müritz) and Neustrelitz, from which local roads, bus services or cycle routes lead into different parts of the park. Visitor centres and lakeside access points are a short drive or local bus ride from those towns.

• Start your visit to Müritz National Park at the Müritzeum visitor centre in Waren (Müritz) to get maps, current bird and trail information, and guided-tour schedules rather than setting off without local context.
• To maximize wildlife sightings and avoid busiest picnic/beach areas, explore early-morning or late-afternoon trails and try lesser-used entrances and villages (for example, small harbors and cycling tracks away from the main towns).
• If birdwatching is your goal, visit during spring or autumn migration when species counts peak; renting a bike or kayak from one of the smaller villages will let you reach quieter hides and shoreline spots many day-trippers miss.
