Muncho Lake Provincial Park

Muncho Lake Provincial Park is a provincial protected area in northern British Columbia centered on Muncho Lake, a long, mountain-framed lake noted for its vivid green-blue color. The park protects lake shoreline, nearby mountains and roadside recreation facilities along a major northern highway.

The area was set aside to protect the lake and its shoreline and to provide recreational access along the Alaska Highway corridor; the park conserves both natural features and travel infrastructure developed with the highway.

The park lies in the northern Rocky Mountain region of British Columbia on the Alaska Highway, within a remote, mountainous landscape of conifer forest and alpine ridges.

• Distinctive water color: Water color ranges from deep emerald to turquoise, produced by suspended sediments and mineral content in the watershed rather than algae blooms.
