Mummelsee is a small glacial cirque lake in the Northern Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg), Germany, located on the Hornisgrinde plateau at roughly 1,036 metres elevation.
The lake is a compact tourist destination with a short circular walking path, lakeside café and hotel facilities; pedal boats are commonly available in the warmer months and trails lead from the lake into the surrounding forest. It is a standard stopping point on the scenic Black Forest High Road.
Mummelsee occupies a glacially formed hollow and is surrounded by dense mixed forest typical of the region; the lake and adjacent uplands developed as a tourist attraction in the 19th and 20th centuries. The immediate shoreline is largely natural with maintained visitor paths.
The lake sits on the western edge of the Hornisgrinde massif in the Northern Black Forest, within Baden-Württemberg and accessible by road and marked walking trails from nearby villages and the Schwarzwaldhochstraße.

Mummelsee is on the B500 (Schwarzwaldhochstraße) between Baden-Baden and Freudenstadt. By car it’s an easy stop along this scenic road. Public transport options include regional buses from Seebach or Baiersbronn; the nearest larger rail hubs are Baden-Baden and Freudenstadt, from which local buses run to the lake.
