How to Get to Muang Kasi
Muang Kasi is reached overland from Vientiane (arrivals via VTE) by bus or minivan; there is no practical passenger rail service for this route. Buses are the common, low-cost way to travel the regional roads in Vientiane province.
Wattay International Airport (VTE): Vientiane Wattay (VTE) is the closest international airport to Vientiane province and is the usual arrival point for visitors to Muang Kasi. From VTE to Vientiane city centre is 15-20 minutes by taxi (≈US$8-15); onward overland travel to Muang Kasi uses regional buses or minivans.
Luang Prabang Airport (LPQ): Depending on your route, some travellers fly into Luang Prabang and travel overland to Vientiane province; this adds several hours on roads and requires bus or minivan connections.
Train: Laos’ rail network is limited; the new Laos-China railway does not yet directly serve many small provincial towns. For Muang Kasi, rail is not a practical option.
