Taxis and airport transfers are the most practical option from RJK; scheduled public buses are limited outside the summer season.
Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG): Zagreb is the main international gateway for inland Gorski Kotar. A shuttle bus from ZAG to Zagreb’s main bus station takes about 30-40 minutes (one-way shuttle fares are commonly around 40 HRK). From Zagreb you can continue by intercity bus or train toward Delnice and then local buses or taxis to Mrkopalj.
Train: The nearest main rail stop is Delnice on the Zagreb-Rijeka line (served by Croatian Railways/HŽ).
