How to Get to Mouttagiaka#
Mouttagiaka, a coastal suburb of Limassol, is most easily reached via Paphos (PFO) or Larnaca (LCA) airports by car or intercity bus. There is no rail service on the island; buses and taxis handle most onward travel.
Paphos International (PFO): Paphos airport is about 20-30 minutes’ drive from Mouttagiaka (depending on exact location and traffic). Taxis cost roughly €25-€45 to Limassol/Mouttagiaka; car rentals are available at the airport and take about 30-40 minutes.
Larnaca International (LCA): Larnaca is the larger international airport serving Cyprus. The drive to Limassol/Mouttagiaka takes about 45-60 minutes by car. Intercity buses run from Larnaca to Limassol (see bus card) and fares are typically low (single fares under €10).
Train: Cyprus has no national rail network; trains are not an option.
Bus: Intercity Buses (OSEA/Intercity) and local operators run services between Larnaca, Paphos and Limassol. The main Limassol bus terminus (in the city center) is the hub for local services; the intercity Larnaca-Limassol route takes about 45-60 minutes and fares are usually around €4-€8. From Limassol central stops or the tourist coastal road you can connect to Mouttagiaka by local bus or short taxi ride.
How to Get Around Mouttagiaka#
With no rail service on Cyprus, intercity buses, taxis and rental cars are the practical choices. For convenience use Paphos or Larnaca airport then a short bus or taxi to Mouttagiaka; once there, local buses or walking cover most short trips.
- Intercity bus (€4-€8) - Intercity buses link Larnaca and Paphos with Limassol on reliable schedules. Buses are economical and drop you at Limassol’s central stops, from where local buses or taxis serve Mouttagiaka. Have small change or buy tickets at kiosks/online where available.
- Local bus (€1.5-€3) - Limassol’s local buses cover the city and coastal suburbs including Mouttagiaka. Schedules can be sparse outside peak season; check timetables and be prepared for standing room on busy routes. Cash fares are low and exact change is helpful.
- Taxi (€8-€45 (short rides to airport more expensive)) - Taxis are plentiful and convenient for short hops or airport transfers; fares are moderate but higher than buses. Use licensed taxis or prebook a transfer from the airport for predictable pricing.
- Car rental (€25-€60/day) - Renting a car is the most flexible way to explore Limassol’s coastline and neighbouring villages. Roads are well signposted; parking in central Limassol can be limited in peak season so look for paid parking options.
- Walking - Mouttagiaka’s seafront and local streets are pleasant to explore on foot; many hotels and restaurants are clustered along the coast. Walking is the best way to enjoy the promenade and beach area.
