How to Get to Kato Polemidia#
Kato Polemidia (Limassol area) and nearby Aglandjia (a suburb of Nicosia) are reached by air at Larnaca (LCA) or Paphos (PFO) and then by intercity bus or taxi. Cyprus lacks a rail network, so road transport (buses, taxis, car hire) is the standard option.
Larnaca International Airport (LCA): The main international airport serving Cyprus and the easiest air gateway for both Limassol (Kato Polemidia) and Nicosia. From LCA you can take an intercity bus or taxi: taxi to Kato Polemidia (Limassol area) is roughly €50-80 and takes about 45-60 minutes; to Aglandjia (Nicosia suburb) is roughly €25-45 and takes ~25-40 minutes.
Paphos International Airport (PFO): A second international airport on the west coast. It’s further from Kato Polemidia (about 1-1.5 hours by car) but can be convenient depending on flight schedules; taxi rides to Limassol are typically €35-70.
Train: Cyprus has no operating national rail network; trains are not available for intercity travel.
Bus: Intercity buses run from Larnaca and Paphos to Limassol and Nicosia. Buses from Larnaca to Limassol take about 40-60 minutes and cost roughly €3-€6; Larnaca to Nicosia takes about 40-50 minutes and costs ~€1.50-€3. Local buses from the city terminals connect to Kato Polemidia (Limassol) and Aglandjia (Nicosia suburb).
How to Get Around Kato Polemidia#
Because Cyprus has no passenger rail, air arrivals at Larnaca or Paphos are followed by intercity bus, taxi or car hire to reach Kato Polemidia and Aglandjia. For local travel, taxis and local buses work well; renting a car gives the most flexibility.

- Taxi / airport transfer (EUR 25-80) - Taxis from Larnaca or Paphos to Limassol/Nicosia are convenient and competitive for small groups or when carrying luggage. Fixed fares are common for airport transfers-confirm the rate beforehand or use an official taxi rank.
- Car hire (EUR 25-60/day) - Hiring a car is the most flexible way to explore Limassol district and Nicosia suburbs; roads are good and distances moderate. Remember Cyprus drives on the left; parking in Kato Polemidia and Aglandjia is generally straightforward.
- Local bus / dolmus-style minibuses (EUR 0.50-3) - Local buses and shared minibuses operate inside Limassol and Nicosia and are the cheapest way to get around suburbs. Services can be frequent during the day but less so at night-plan ahead for late trips.
- Walking - Both Kato Polemidia and Aglandjia have walkable neighbourhood centres where shops and services are within easy walking distance; walking is pleasant for short errands.
