The Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples in Chengde, Hebei province, is a large Qing dynasty imperial complex combining landscaped palaces and a ring of temples of varying styles. It functioned as a summer residence and a ceremonial centre for imperial interactions with ethnic and regional groups.

The resort area contains palaces, artificial lakes and gardens set in a large parkland while the outer temples form a circumferential zone of religious complexes that mirror different regional architectures. Notable temple complexes were constructed in Tibetan and other styles to accommodate ritual and political uses.

Construction and enlargement of the resort and temples took place mainly during the 18th century under Qing imperial patronage, when Chengde served as a seasonal centre of court life and ceremonial diplomacy. The ensemble illustrates Qing approaches to landscape design, court ritual and multiethnic symbolism.

The site lies near the modern city of Chengde in Hebei province northeast of Beijing and occupies a valley and hillside landscape that was landscaped and adapted for imperial use.
