Tips for Visiting Mount Koma (Hakone) #
- Take the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway from Hakone-machi/Hakone‑en on Lake Ashi to reach the summit quickly; combine it with a morning pirate-ship crossing of the lake for the smoothest connections and the best chance of Fuji views.
- Aim for mid‑morning when visibility is often clearest (early haze and late-afternoon clouds can obscure Mount Fuji) and check ropeway operating status beforehand-high winds can close the line.
- Spend a short walking loop at the summit visiting the small shrine and viewpoints rather than rushing back; the ropeway runs frequently but queues grow during Japanese holidays (Golden Week, Obon), so start early on those dates.
