Mount Hillaby

Mount Hillaby is the highest point on the Caribbean island of Barbados, located in the parish of Saint Andrew and reaching roughly 340 meters above sea level. It forms a high ridge in the interior ‘Scotland District.’

The hill is visited for its vantage over rolling hills and coastal plains rather than for technical climbing. The area around the high point is rural and roads give access to nearby viewpoints and local villages.

Geographically the summit sits in the northeastern interior of Barbados, within Saint Andrew parish and overlooking the island’s eastern coastline and Scotland District terrain.

• Views: The summit offers panoramic views over the island’s eastern ‘Scotland District’ landscape, with exposure to Atlantic trade winds and coastal scenery.

• Mount Hillaby is a short roadside high point rather than a long hike-visit early in the morning to get cleaner views toward the east coast and to avoid the daytime haze that often reduces visibility.
• Combine the short stop at Hillaby with nearby viewpoints such as Cherry Tree Hill and the east-coast villages (Bathsheba area) to get the full coastal panorama most visitors miss when they only drive to the summit marker.
• There is limited parking at the roadside vantage; go on a weekday morning if you want a quieter visit and unobstructed photos, as weekends can see more local traffic at scenic stops.
